The second GLONASS-K had appeared on the orbit.
New-generation navigation satellite GLONASS-K ¹ 12, designed and built by ISS-Reshetnev Company, has been launched from Plesetsk space centre (Arkhangelsk Region), carried by rocket Soyuz-2 with the Fregat upper stage at night on December 1, 2014.
The carrier rocket was launched at 00:52 according to Moscow time. Satellite successfully reached the target orbit. Currently the operations are carried out on orientation and stabilization, spacecraft "Glonass-K" is preparing for the flight test program.
Glonass-K ¹12 is the second new-generation satellite of the Glonass-K family. His weight is 974 kg, the power supply system - 1600 watts. The guaranteed lifetime is expected to be 10 years.
The satellite broadcasts five navigation signals in three frequency bands – L1, L2 and L3.Moreover on the satellite is installed radio complex of international search and rescue system Cospas-Sarsat.
Due to the modern onboard equipment, the new-generation satellites in the GLONASS orbital constellation will provide higher accuracy of navigation determinations for users.
